Philippe Favre, between tradition and innovation
With Philippe Favre, the company reached a decisive technological milestone. Combining modern management with the integration of new technologies, he ensured continuity while paving the way for new markets.
Born in 1952, he spent his childhood with his sister Mireille in the family home. He completed an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic at the Biel/Bienne Technical School of Mechanics. He graduated in 1975 with a degree in engineering from ETS. After a stint at "BIEN-AIR," he traveled the world and returned to work there. In 1977, he was hired in Schönenwerd, at the spring machine factory "SCHENKER MASCHINEN AG," as a design draftsman.
In 1978, he joined the family business. He learned the trade during an economic crisis. The advent of computers allowed him to develop his business management skills at the office level. He married in 1983, and his wife, Romaine, also worked alongside him in the office. In 1984, the company became a public limited company and adopted the name "FAVRE-STEUDLER SA." To further his knowledge, he took evening classes at the St-Imier Technicum and graduated in 1993 with a degree in business administration. He then became director and principal shareholder, a position he still holds today. The arrival of CNC machines on the market revolutionized manufacturing and opened up new markets.
